Kanonix, a new product in the ITSM field will be officially introduced at WWRUG 09,Las Vegas. Kanonix promises to fill the gaps created by existing ITSM suites and products, the tag line says it all “Common Data, Uncommon Control”.

Kanonix products are based on the BMC Remedy platform and with the improvements made in Remedy 7.5 server more elegant applications will be seen in the near future.

End-End Enterprise Lifecycle

Products from Kanonix include:

• Asset Management
• Service Request
• Service Desk
• Change Management
• Work Order
• and the most important, CODB – Common Object Database

with future products including but not limited to Kanonix Telecom, Kanonix Purchase and Kanonix Inventory.

Kanonix can become a big alternative for BMC’s own ITSM suite if it delivers new and improved functionality. With all the buzz happening around ITIL and other standards in the industry, more and more products and services are getting accredited by Pink Elephant or OGC, will have to wait and see how Kanonix will handle things without any support from big guys.

I have checked their website but haven’t found anything about the price of the product or anything about licenses, I think to beat the existing competition the only way for new products is to provide high quality services at low prices till they gain some ground, will try to find some more info about this thing soon.

I am scheduled to have a demo of Kanonix apps before WWRUG, but due to timing conflicts was unable to attend it. Will write detailed review in few weeks.
